    Mid-Lent/Merry Go Round

My eye was immediately drawn to this piece when I entered the room because of the liberal use of glitter throughout. My first thought was that it was “sparkly and confused”, which I believe is what makes this piece a good metaphor for who I am. I am a bright and enthusiastic person, however I am unsure of my future and what that may hold. Do I want to continue in my chosen field, or is there something more out there for me?

  2. A work that you only like a particular part of.IMG_5568

The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrha

I found this painting as a whole to be dark and uninspiring. However, I was fascinated by the section of the painting that depicts the burning city. I was amazed by how alive the flames seemed and how the fire brought life to the crumbling buildings.

  3. A work by an artist who was born in a place you have always wanted to visit.

    Amsterdam

I have always been intrigued by Amsterdam. The way my high school classmates always seemed to discuss the city as though it was a playground for forbidden desires. As I grew older I learned that this was not true, however I still want to go and experience the city that I have heard so much about.

  4. Something that you would like to use as a source of inspiration in your sketchbook.

Tom Wesselmann Quick Sketch from the Train (Italy) No. 2

I really like the idea of seeing people, objects, or landscapes as a collection of simple lines. I would love to try and break down the complex images that I see into a simple line drawing and create something beautiful from that. Perhaps I could even try creating a drawing using only one line and never lifting my pencil.

  5. A work you feel strongly about.

    3000 stuffed animals

As soon as the elevator doors opened, I was greeted by 3000 stuffed animals looking back at me and I was mesmerized. The animals were mostly organized by colour and at first all I could see where the many coloured patches that covered the wall, however the longer I looked at it the more I recognized some familiar faces looking back at me. I could see animals that I loved and cared for as a child and have since lost or donated smiling back at me from the wall and it made me so happy and nostalgic; I had a very hard time walking away from this work.

  6. Interesting work with a new caption.
